Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Structural Assembler to join our team. The successful candidate will have related structural assembly experience and experience working with Solumina and Smarteam. Graduates of the Savannah Tech Aircraft Structures Technical Certificate Program with one year of experience will be considered for one year of experience credit. The Structural Assembler will perform a variety of structural assembly operations in a production department as part of a team-oriented work environment.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1 year of related structural assembly experience
  • Experience working with Solumina and Smarteam preferred
  • One year experience credit considered for graduates of Savannah Tech Aircraft Structures Technical Certificate Program
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
  • Assembly and Fitting: Performs assembly and fitting of detail parts and structures, and varied drilling and riveting operations; ensures parts/assembly meet FAA requirements, customer specifications, and Gulfstream standard of quality.
  • Riveting: Rivets structural assemblies and parts, including sheetmetal parts, using all tools required to do the job (e.g., portable riveting guns, pneumatic guns, pneumatic drills, counter sinks, rivet shavers, files, reamers, rivets).
  • Blueprint Reading: Reads work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches, and operation sheets to determine sequence of operations, type, size, and hole pattern for rivets.
  • Quality Control: Checks all work and ensures a defective-free assembly prior to final inspection.
  • Record Keeping: Maintains and uses all logs and records (e.g., MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs). Uses resource planning system to enter daily labor against correct Work Order and Item numbers.
  • Assembly Alignment: Aligns and assembles parts to be riveted using jigs, holding fixtures, pins, clamps, and fasteners.
  • Work Area Maintenance: Maintains a neat and orderly work area, supports the company 5S Program, and complies with all safety regulations.
  • Supervision: Works under moderate supervision on duties and tasks.
  • Lean Activities: Supports Lean Activities.
Additional Functions:
  • Continuous Improvement: Participates in continuous improvement activities (e.g., YIAW, Kaizen events, etc.).
  • Work Area Cleanliness: Keeps shop and aircraft work areas clean and uncluttered.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Properly cares for and maintains shop equipment and tools as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Safety Compliance: Complies with safety rules and procedures.
Other Requirements:
  • Aircraft Structures Knowledge: Basic knowledge of various aircraft structures, sheetmetal, and fabrication processes.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints.
  • Scale Reading: Reads and interprets 6" scale.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.
  • Math Skills: Must be able to read a scale and perform basic shop math.
  • Document Comprehension: Reads and comprehends basic documents and instructions.
  • Personal Skills: Must have essential personal skills, which include an aptitude for hands-on craftwork, a professional attitude, attention to detail, ability to work with people, and to meet demanding schedules.
  • Housekeeping and Safety: Must demonstrate good housekeeping and safety practices.
  • Composite Materials: Ability to work with composite resins and materials.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Shift Work: Must be able to work any shift.
  • Mobility: Must be able to climb ladders/stands/stairs and work in small spaces and/or restricted areas.
  • Language Skills: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
